Tiffany Jewell is an anti-bias, anti-racist educator and activist. She wrote this book to hopefully inspire students to defy racism and xenophobia. This book consists of the concepts of social identity, race, racism, and ethnicity. It then goes into some of the history of racism including instances of Native Americans as well as Australians. It also goes into specific language and phrases to disrupt racism, educating the reader how to act when they hear a racial slur. It really equips young readers with how to continue their path down the road of anti-racism, not just being "not racist."

Because this book consists of 20 chapters, it would be best suited for middle school. It contains bright illustrations which can keep students engaged. It also confronts racism and all its elements in a very straightforward way which may be a bit striking for younger students. This book could so easily relate to students in the classroom who have either endured racism or saw racism occurring but wasn't aware of how to react in the moment. Hopefully by reading this book, as well as similar books, over time, we can undo thousands of years of racism that have been projected onto the younger generations. This book could spike class conversations and could even be used as a tool in class. We need more educators like Jewell who are willing to talk about topics that may have been deemed uncomfortable.
