Aidan always felt like a boy. He didn't like his name, nor his room, nor his clothes. It was hard for Aidan to tell his parents how he felt. While it took everyone time to adjust, his family was accepting that Aiden identified as a boy. They changed Aidan's room, clothes, and let him look the way he wanted to. When Aidan's mom tells him that they're going to have a baby, Aidan feels a responsibility to the baby to make sure it feels understood. Aidan even comes up with gender-neutral names that the baby could have. While he's happy he was able to pick his name, he knows the baby will not be able to do that right away. The book ends when the baby is born, and the family is very happy. They never say the baby's name or assign the baby a gender.

This book is targeted towards younger elementary students, probably grades kindergarten through 2nd. This is because it introduces the concept of transgenderism and has a young main character, as the main character is meant to relate to the reader. However, this book could be enjoyed by everyone, as I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it even made me tear up a little. Even Aidan, a young boy, is able to realize that the most important thing about bringing a new person into the world is ensuring they feel loved and understood. Aidan always strives to do just that.
